In this interview, Chris Caldwell introduces esteemed Professor, Sir Andrew Likierman, former Dean of London Business School, for their fascinating Conversation on DECISION MAKING and judgement.

Sir Andrew is an inspirational speaker, leader and management thinker. He advised Parliamentary Select Committees, was president of the Chartered Institute of Management and had roles at both Barclays Bank and the Bank of England.

The complex world of decision-making and judgement is many layered and Professor Likierman tells us of his own amazing voyage of discovery. This conversation will uncover the six elements of decision making – six elements that we can all understand and hopefully apply in our own everyday lives as well as in business.

“Would you know that somebody has good judgment when they make a difficult choice, a difficult decision? You know what constitutes good judgment?… how do you know other people have got it if you’re going to hire them?…”

“…how do you bring everything together of the individual, the situation, the variables involved in a complex choice, what guidance can one give? And I found there was almost nothing written on this. And so intrigued by that, I said, all right, it’s a voyage of discovery, and here I go…”

“…and my aim, therefore, is to try, in terms of the phrase, stack the cards in one’s favour of making a choice …”
